The Onuma Hakodate Snow and Ice Festival, held in Onuma Quasi National Park near the majestic Mt. Komagatake since 1965, is one of the largest winter events in the Donan Region. The festival features displays of snow and ice sculptures as well as a jumbo-sized slide made from the ice of Onuma Lake, which is popular among children. At night the festival is enveloped in candle light and soft exterior lighting, creating a magical scene that contrasts sharply with the daytime.
