The Red Brick Warehouses reuse warehouses built at the end of the Meiji Period (1868-1912). One of the bay area's most noted tourist destinations, the area has shopping and eateries as well as art museums and wedding venues. A few of the red brick warehouses actually continue to act as fully-functioning warehouses today. As the name indicates, the warehouses are made from red brick and exude a retro charm, providing a sense of Hakodate's history year round.
