Nakajima Bargain Sale Market is made up of open booth merchants operating year-round, a rarity in modern Japan. Mainly consisting of fruit and vegetable vendors, the booths also include pickled vegetable stalls and general merchandise stores. The market hosts nearly 100 booths and shops, which also carry fresh seafood, groceries, and everyday sundries, and a number of restaurants. The market is fondly referred to by local residents as simply ｢bargain market (Renbai)｣ from its cheap prices and superior freshness.
