Minato-cho Pier is the newest pier addition to Hakodate Bay. The pier's 14-meter depth allows domestic and foreign large cruise ships to make calls at the Port of Hakodate. The surrounding area has become a key spot for city residents and cruise ship guests to interact and mingle. The expansive pier also acts as a storage area for foods and materials and has large cranes capable of loading and offloading container ships. The pier offers sweeping views of Mount Hakodate and Nanae-hama Beach in the distance.
