West Pier is located in Benten-cho at the foot of Mount Hakodate. The warehouses of seafood processors and marine shipping companies are located on the pier, while countless ships, including squid fishing vessels and workboats, frequent the area. The pier provides views of Midori-no-shima Island, Mashu-maru, the ferry that once operated the Hakodate-Aomori route, as well as Goryokaku Tower through the Tomoe Ohashi Bridge. The pier also offers stunning sunset views of Hakodate and Mount Hakodate colored in shades of red.
