The street was named Isaribi-dori (literally ｢fish light street｣) because of the beautiful night views of the squid fishing boat lights in Tsugaru Straits. Omorihama Seashore and Takuboku Park, location of the Takuboku Ishikawa Statue are located along the section of the street running along the ocean for about 5km from Yunokawa to JR Hakodate Station. This section also offers up-close views of Mt. Hakodate. The road, with its wide sidewalk and refreshing sea breeze, is a favorite jogging and walking spot for city residents.
