The Hakodate Municipal Lighthouse Museum Pikarin-kan was built in commemoration of the renovation of the Cape Esan Lighthouse. The first floor has a scale model of the original Cape Esan Lighthouse and various lighthouse-related equipment, the second floor exhibits on the history of lighthouses around the world, including photos, and the third floor an observatory room with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. With its small interactive theater and quiz rally stations, the museum is visited by patrons of all ages.
