The Hakodate Historical Museum of Photography occupies a Western-style building that once served as the offices of the Hokkaido Government Hakodate Branch Office from 1909 to 1950. The Pamphlet Booth, located in Motomachi Park and designated a tangible cultural property by the Hokkaido government, provides commanding views of the Port of Hakodate from its observation area backdropped by Mount Hakodate and the Old Hakodate Public Hall.
