Jitsugyo-ji Temple
Area:Motomachi Area

Jitsugyo-ji Temple acted as a lodging for the group of photographers that accompanied United States Admiral Matthew Perry in 1854, and was used as the Russian Embassy in 1858. The temple is also one of the seven stops on the Mount Hakodate 7 Gods of Fortune pilgrimage, as Daikoku (the god of wealth, commerce and trade) is enshrined there. With ocean near and Mount Hakodate looming behind, visitors can enjoy a unique blended view of ocean, mountain and temple. Closely linked with the history of Hakodate, the temple is highly visited by tourists and worshipers alike.
