Shichizai Bridge was constructed at the peak of the marine shipping industry to rationalize operations at two parrelel wharfs. The midspan of the bridge is shaped into a beautiful high arch to allow vessels to pass underneath. The view from the historic and cobblestoned bridge includes up-close vistas of the red brick warehouses and Mount Hakodate. Today, smaller ships and fishing vessels moor at the harbor facing the bridge.
