The hilltop area, where the street is made with cobblestone and lined with flowerbeds and bronze statues, provides sweeping views of the Old British Consulate of Hakodate and the Motomachi District where old-style street cars still run, as well as Hakodate Bay. From the bottom of the hill, visitors are treated to the beautiful sight of Motomachi Park and Old Public Hall of Hakodate Ward, which has been designated an important cultural asset, set against the backdrop of Mount Hakodate.
