The Mount Hakodate Ropeway is a high-speed ropeway connecting the base and peak of the mountain in 3 minutes. The ropeway, which uses large gondolas capable of accommodating 125 persons, is widely used by many people each year to enjoy the scenery from atop Mount Hakodate. The gondola ride provides spectacular top-down views of the Hakodate Orthodox Church and other historical buildings in the city, which contrasts with the sweeping views from the peak.
