The Soma K.K. Building is a two-story Western-style wooden building constructed in 1914 as the office for Teppei Soma who ran a rice and grain store. Today, the building is still used as a company office. The building, with mixed design of first floor Japanese style and second floor Western style, represents one of Hakodate's more unique structures. The moss green exterior walls and black roofing tiles are also quite unique, while the ornamental triangular roof over the front entrance is just another example of how design expertise can be seen throughout the building.
